Jesus said to love your neighbour as yourself.
People might judge. The church is made up of people, so people who go to church might judge. They will have loud opinions and say hurtful things.
Jesus won’t!
One day Jesus was sitting in the temple and was teaching the crowds that were gathered there. At the time there was a religious-political party called the Pharisees. They claimed to be superior to everyone else and to be strict followers of Jewish law. They hated Jesus.
They had found a woman who was caught in adultery and thought they could catch Jesus out with the law. At that time anyone caught in adultery was stoned to death. So, they brought the woman to Him and said, “This woman has been caught in the very act of adultery. Now Moses in the Law commanded us that such shall be stoned to death. But what do You say to do with her—what is Your sentence?
Jesus ignored them and bent down and wrote in the sand. They persisted with their question. Eventually He stood up and he said these incredible words,
“Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.”
He then bent down and continued to write in the sand. When He looked up again there was no one left in the temple, just Him and the woman. He said to her, Woman, where are your accusers? Has no man condemned you?
She answered, No one, Lord!
And Jesus said, I do not condemn you either. Go on your way and from now on sin no more.
Jesus did not require her to pay a sentence. He just required her to change her life and not sin any more.
